Earn College Credit for What You Already Know with LearningCounts.org LearningCounts.org, CAEL’s new online service, helps employees earn college credit through Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) by assessing college level learning acquired through on-the-job training, civic activities, volunteer service and corporate training. As reported in the last issue of TAPWire, Section 127 of the IRS tax code was up for renewal in Congress. We are happy to report that the “Tax Relief, Unemployment Insurance Reauthorization, and Job Creation Act of 2010” (H.R. 4853) passed in the Senate by a 277-148 vote. The bill includes a two-year extension of IRC Sec. 127. Section 127 of the Internal Revenue Code allows an employee to exclude from income up to $5,250 per year in educational assistance at the undergraduate and graduate levels, regardless of whether the education is job-related.
